Here is an
interesting photo we took after a storm here in Indiana.
Notice the multiple rainbows and the 'shield' effect created
by the brightest rainbow. Taken from the neighbors across the
street. |
We took an
evening drive in the truck and ended up by the lake. This
photo was taken facing west over the lake at sunset. The
lights on the truck appear to be on but they are not. I think
it was the flash. |

This was
December 2002. We actually had about 13 inches of snow the
week this was taken. I had replaced my Trans Am back in
September with the Durango. Probably a good thing as the
Trans Am probably would not have faired that well. |
This was the
Trans Am mentioned. I entered it in the largest Trans Am show
around which usually draws 300 - 500 Trans Ams' from all years,
makes and models. This is the last show I entered it in
before trading it for the Durango. |

With the price of Gas going up
we decided it was time to move to more economical vehicles.
Still wanting something 4x4, my wife opted for the new Jeep
Wrangler Unlimited, you know, the 15" longer Jeep. The
Jeep is affectionately called SCRUFFY due to the Jeep smiley
face with a beard (she has one on the spare tire cover). I
selected the Grand Am GT with the SC/T option package as this reminded me of
the TRANS AM, sort of. She wanted yellow (I would have
preferred a different color, but as it was hers ...) and I
went with the
fusion orange. Her mileage increased by 6 miles per
gallon and I increased by 12, which is almost double the
Durango. |

With the approach of my 50th
birthday, and Chrysler offering 0% interest, I decided to
trade the Grand AM for something a little more sporty.
It's not often you can trade cars and not have to shell out any
CASH!! I went on Chrysler's website and did a
lot of research before opting to make an offer on a 2005
Chrysler Crossfire Limited Coupe. I won't say how good
a deal I got, but I pay less per month then I did on the
Grand AM and my auto insurance dropped $60.00 a year based
on the safety features of this particular model. Due
to Indiana being in the snow belt, I did not want a
convertible roadster model.
Dealers have several of the
2005 models left on their lots and with the incoming 2007
cars are doing some heavy discounting on them. There
were no 2006 Chrysler Crossfire models built for US purchase
and unless something changes, their will not be any 2007
Crossfire cars built and shipped to the United States either
(rumor has it that it will be replaced with the concept car
called the
Chrysler FirePower). The Chrysler Crossfire is one
of the first joint ventures with Mercedes (Daimler/Chrysler
merger) - see this link for more information on this car. (Chrysler
Crossfire)
Mileage wise this car is
averaging 26 miles to the gallon which is a small
improvement over the Grand AM. While this is not the
high end SRT6 Model with 330HP and fixed spoiler (dealers
are still asking sticker for this model), the 215HP and
Active Spoiler make this a unique vehicle. Just for
reference this car replaced the Chriysler (Plymouth)
Prowler. |
Here is another car I had a
while back before it was pretty much totaled. The 1997
Eagle Talon TSi AWD was a SWEET ride. I purchased it
used and unbeknown to me it had been in an accident prior to
my purchase.
While coming back from a
meeting a new Chevy S10 Blazer ran a stop sign and there was
no way to miss him. The total damage was over
$12,000.00. The body shop informed me during the
rebuild that the car had been damaged before. I
started making phone calls and was able to contact the
original owner. She told me the car had been damaged
in the same fashion and the damage was over $12,000.00 when
she had it repaired.
Needless to say, after pretty much two rebuilds, I traded
the car as soon as it came back from the body shop.
They could not get the original high profile spoiler and the
one they put on just detracted from the cars looks. I
traded for a 1997 Grand Prix, but that one will come later.
This is a picture of
someone else's car. We looked through tons of photos
and for some reason this car and the Grand Prix were never
photographed. I blanked out the license plate to
protect the identity of the owner of this particular car.
